Baritone James Cleverton has appeared in principal roles at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, Opernhaus Zürich, Salzburg Festival, Theater St Gallen, Opéra de Rennes and the major UK opera festivals.
Recent performances include Johann in Werther for the Royal Opera House, Kallenbach in Satyagraha for ENO, Gusmano in Verdi's Alzira for the Buxton International Music Festival, Baron Douphol in La Traviata for Opera North, the ROH and WNO, title role and Marco in Gianni Schicchi for Scottish Opera, Daedalus in the world premiere of Michael Zev Gordon's Raising Icarus for the Barber Institute and was the baritone soloist for the European premiere of Roberto Sierra's Missa Latina with the Orquesta y Coro Nacional at the Madrid National Concert Hall under the baton of Karen Kamensek.
Future plans include returns to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, WNO and Opera Holland Park and recording the role of Leonid in the world premiere of Joe Cutler's Sonata for Broken Fingers for the Birmingham Contemporary Opera Group with the CBSO.
